Special Religious Education (SRE), sometimes known as Scripture, is part of the curriculum in Government Schools. Representatives of approved religious persuasions have an opportunity to provide SRE in every Government school in NSW.

SRE lessons occur fortnightly and happen as part of the Year Advisor lesson. Year Advisor lessons appear on the students timetable as 7YA or 8SRE
