Dear all
I just wanted to share with you a positive experience that the wonderful students of Big Picture 1 have just completed.
After 10 weeks of visiting residents at Harbourside, listening to and writing up their personal biographies, today was the book launch where residents were presented with their books: A 'This is your life' written by the students.
The event was a very positive experience for all involved and the students all took the projects seriously, engaging meaningfully each week and, in the end, all came up with amazing and extensive life histories, written and bound for the residents to share with their friends and family.
Today these books were presented. May residents had invited family members and the process was made more formal with excellent speeches and thanks given by Hayley Clancy and Jake Bailey (many of the residents, staff and family members were in tears!)
I am very proud of the way the students conducted themselves and the quality of work the Big Picture class has done this term on this project and in speaking with the residents it has been an excellent learning for them to.
The general manger Sheree Gemmel is excited to run this program again next year if possible and presented us with a thank you donation of $2000 (which I will give to Vianney.)
A few weeks ago Summer Hill Films came and made a promotional video for Big Picture Education which they are going to use for promotion and training. If you are keen to see the kids in action please click the link below.
I have taken photos today and have videos of the student speeches which I will collate if you are interested in seeing anything further.
You all have had a lot to do with the students in this program and I am sure you are as proud of their work as I am.
