Vocational Education Training
Outdoors for Me!!!
Harrison Ballard really enjoys the outdoors aspect to his education.
He is undertaking the Vocational Education Training – Certificate II in Construction at Tomaree High.
“I really enjoy working outdoors & being able to interact with my mates while working”, he said.
“I started building toy cars & planes at my grandparents place when I was about 6 years old. Now I’m at school in Year 12 building a Mini House!! Having these type of courses available at school is fantastic”.
“Our teacher, Mr Crew is very helpful & shows how it is done properly & to industry standards”.
Students operate under industry standards & use equipment & tools they will be using out in the work place.
Mr Crew said “students use CAD drawn plans; industry standard levelling techniques; power tools & follow industry codes of practice”.
Harrison will pursue his love of the outdoors & construction when he completes his HSC.
“I will go to TAFE & pursue a career in the construction industry – I’m just not sure what area of construction I will follow”.
Harrison lives at Corlette & wants to gain his qualifications & continue to live in the area.
