Callum Dodd REHEARSE REPEAT!

Tomaree High School students Molly O'Sullivan and Callum Dodd have been selected from across the Hunter region to take on special interest parts for this year's ‘ICONIC’  themed Starstruck.

Year 11 student Molly O'Sullivan was thrilled to be selected as part of the Student Direction Team giving Molly valuable working experience behind the scenes. Molly has been assisting the drama casts by working with the choreographers in a mentor role with a variety of students from Newcastle, the Hunter and the Central Coast.

“I love this role because I can explore my creative side, I can gain experience working behind the scenes in the stage and media field and I am able to help students work collaboratively as a team.” - Molly O’Sullivan

Year 9 student Callum Dodd has always loved acting and shares Molly’s excitement of being involved with StarStruck. Callum was selected from many students to perform as ‘The Ringmaster.’ Callum said, “I was excited that this role would be great for me, and I could let an overconfident, bombastic Ringmaster out of the bag.”

Callum has really enjoyed being able to work with like-minded indivduals. You would think he may be a little nervous but instead he is enjoying the expectation and pressure that this role has brought. For Callum this has been a fantastic opportunity to build on his love of performance. One day Callum hopes to be a voice actor.

Tomaree High School dance and drama students reherasal  process has been an exciting time, allowing performers to develop, manage and ultimately achieve ownership of their roles and performace.  This has all been thanks to dedicated teachers working collaboratively with the students.

Star Struck is an annual performing arts arena event for public schools from across Newcastle, the Hunter and Central Coast. It is an impressive showcase of dance, drama and music performed to a live orchestra by students. It all comes to life with performances on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.
