Support Staff
Lisa Martin is the Aboriginal Education & Engagement Officer and can assist students with their well being three days a week. Lisa also organises culturally appropriate learning experiences.
If you have academic or well being concerns about your child please ring either Lisa or Jacquie on 4981 1444 an ask for extension 516.
Indigenous Specific Activities
The school runs a Junior Aboriginal Consultative Group Period 2 every Wednesday morning. The students that attend are considered the Aboriginal leaders of our school.
There are many opportunities for our Indigenous students, for example, excursions to Murrook to experience local Indigenous culture, free medical check ups at Nelson Bay Clinic and in Term 2 we are starting a language course with local Worimi Elders.
Personalised Learning Plans
Every year each Aboriginal child has an interview with a parent and a teacher to ensure that each child is reaching their educational potential. This information is documented as a PLP or Personalised Learning Plan.
A note will be sent home and a meeting organised when convenient. Please note any adult member of the family can attend such as an Aunty, Uncle, Nan or Pop!
